Our Journey
Since its establishment in 1988, the Mumbai Wholesale Gold Jewellers Association has been at the forefront of representing and advancing the interests of gold & silver jewellery wholesalers in Mumbai. Based in Zaveri Bazar, the heart of India's gold trade, our association has grown from a small group of visionary businessmen to a powerful network of over 350 members.
Throughout our journey, we have remained committed to our founding principles: advocating for fair trade practices, fostering ethical business standards and creating opportunities for collaboration and growth within the wholesale gold & silver jewellery community.

Key Milestones
Mumbai Wholesale Gold Jewellers Association Founded
1988The Mumbai Wholesale Gold Jewellers Association was established to represent wholesale gold jewellers in Mumbai, with founding members from the historic Zaveri Bazar area.
First Industry Summit
1990Organized the first major industry summit bringing together wholesalers, retailers, and government officials to discuss gold trade policies.
Advocacy Success
1995Successfully advocated for favorable changes in gold import regulations, benefiting the entire industry.
Digital Initiative Launched
2000Launched the first digital member portal, modernizing communication and information sharing among members.
100+ Members
2015Association membership grew to 100+ members, establishing MWGJA as a significant voice in Mumbai's gold trade.
Education Programmes

GJC Partnership
2018Established formal collaboration with the Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC) to strengthen industry representation at national level.
Annual Picnic Tradition
2018Started the annual 'Megh Malhar' picnic event, fostering community bonds and family engagement among members.
New Office Inauguration
2024Inaugurated a new, modern office at Zaveri Bazar in November, providing enhanced facilities and services for members.
Megh Malhar 2.0
2025Organized the grand annual picnic 'Megh Malhar 2.0' at The Grand Resort, Igatpuri in July, with record participation from member families.
350 Members
2025Reached the milestone of 350 active members, cementing position as Mumbai's largest wholesale gold jewellers association.
Youth Wing Launch
