Prime Minister's Statement on Gold

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to citizens to reduce or avoid gold purchases for a period of one year, as part of efforts to reduce India's gold import bill and conserve foreign exchange. The appeal comes at a time when high international gold prices and India's dependence on imported gold are major issues for the bullion market.”
